Return to Zork (ReelMagic)
ATTENTION!! Return to Zork ReelMagic Version or MPEG Version, like was called back in the time to these ReelMagic games, is fully playable now on the latest version of the special edition of dosbox, the Dosbox Reelmagic Fork. Just google it...
Be careful buying copies on ebay. I bought a copy (couldn't find my orignal at the time) for $5, and apparently the guy selling it had just copied the install files over, and put the audio there in FLAC format.
Basically he just burned rips of the audio and copies of the game files and claimed it was the game. It didn't even have the trademark logo on it. He was just selling fake copies.
Didn't even question me when I told him he sold a fake version (I knew once it played the DOS version instead of the CD version) and I was going to inform Ebay about it. Just sent the refund.

Also the ReelMagic version shouldn't replace the cd-rom version. It should be included as an extra. As there are some puzzle changes, and some elements are cut from the ReelMagic version.
The idea is to push for support however, it needs to be done... Someone out there needs to work on the support.
Even if GoG add this version dosbox and scummvm does not support it.
I hope they manage to release it.There is a huge improvement on the quality of those fmv movies.
Ps- i don't know if it is feasible to use the reelmagic version videos and convert them to the simpler format used in the cd version .
THis was the version they showed in many of the trailers for the game, IIRC, and on the back of some of the boxes. Unfortunately I've never had the chance to see it in action, and would love to see it playable for all.
@chodefloater There's actually three versions of the game; the floppy version, the CD version and Reelmagic version. GOG.com's download is based on the CD version. The floppy version has even less animation and video. Most of the interactions are basically still images with minimal animation in the floppy version.
Had no idea this version was out there! This absolutely has to be converted. Would love to see what the real FMV is like...
I was kind of bummed when I bought Return to Zork, started it up, and it looked nothing like the version I played as a kid. I never realized there was a version without all the high quality FMV! I'd love to get the ReelMagic version.
