I read that the developers will not make a DRM free version for GNU/Linux. I am so angry at myself that I bought the game at all (at full price too!), after I read that it will come to GNU/LInux. I will definitely not make that mistake again.
Any news about the Mac OS and Linux port?

On steam both ports available!
Age of Wonders 3 is officially ported to both Mac and Linux. It behoves GOG to at least inform us of why their catalogue does not contain these ports, and provide a prognosis, if it expects to maintain from us any degree of trust and reliability in its catalogue.

It's Triumph. Been mentioned in this thread.
So it wont never come to Linux?

I don't think so: Triumph stated that there are problems granting a DRM-free port. Simple as that: I think they don't want to give that much of support here. And therefore they shouldn't get any monetary support from Linux-users hoping for a release soon enough.
Ya, it would make sense. I do wonder if when they get done patching it they might actually port it over though. I had one of the mods on their forums say it's not planned right now, but not decided against. I asked if there was hope of GOG getting the Linux and Mac versions one day, and this was their response:

"I do not know. I do not make that call. But as of now, as far as I am aware it is not planned. But I could be wrong, or it may be reconsidered in the future, so don’t lose all hope."

I has come to Linux a while ago already.

On Steam you can get the Linux & Mac-Version. But not on GOG!

Shame on you Triumph Studios!!!! For pulling of that DRM-Stunt on GOG and then still not releasing a DRM-Free Version for Mac & Linux.

On the bright side: The windows version from GOG works under Wine 2.0 or newer.

I tested it yesterday with Play on Linux, Wine 2.11, and an old game version from 2015. There were some minor glitches (perhaps because of my drivers or some old bugs?) but the game was playable.
I play age of Wonders 3 with all the DLC's and some mods under Ubuntu 16.04.3 and Wine 3.7 without any problems, although the frame rate is somewhat slow on huge maps with High video settings, especially towards the end of the game.
