I have a strange problem with my main character every once in a while when I open the character screen I notice that my character stats are all changed. Some are increased (denoted in green) and some are decreased (in red). For example the delta between my Daily save and my Melee save are as follows:

ST: 8 > 9
CN: 8 > 9
DX: 9 > 8
BE: 8 stayed same
IN: 8 > 5
WP: 9 stayed same
CH: 12 > 10

I checked the game log and nothing stands out. No injuries or curses to speak of and it is not equipment derived. In fact the only thing that I did between the Daily save and the Melee save was take the Garringsburg painting recovery quest, question people in the gentleman's club and saved outside the warehouse before delivering the note.

I am running plain vanilla Arcanum (ver: 1.0.7.4 according to the version log text file) and have not loaded any of the fan patches. Running on a Windows 10 machine.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

It looks like your character is drunk.

I strongly recommend installing the Unofficial Arcanum Patch (i.e. UAP).

Drunk it is. Thanks!

I guess that I decided to query the barman when I was in the Gentleman's Club. I usually buy a drink before asking for rumours. Did not figure that one would impair me all that much.

I loaded from my Daily save and went had a drink. Good news is it wears off after an hour.

OK. Will consider reloading and restarting with the UAP patch.

Wouldn't it be nice? ;)
If you drink enough eventually you'll start having dumb dialogues while you're drunk. There is nothing better in this game than getting ratted and then chatting up everyone in the bar :D

I have been watching Tim Cain's Youtube video posts lately and got a kick out of the tale of his DMing D&D games that inspired dumb dialog in his computer games. One player with a 3 intelligence stat was forced to only use only one syllable words to describe a dragon on a heap of treasure.

This inspired me to replay Arcanum. However I quickly dumped the dumb dialog character and reverted to type as a technology focused grenadier.
