Hello,

For some reason I cannot run DK2 GOG version in higher that 1024x768 resolution.
It works with my CD version, but not with GOG. I've tried setting same parameters in shortcut (-32bittextures -32bitdisplay -enablebumpmapping -enablebumpluminance -softwarefilter) but it doesn't help either.
Could someone help me with the resolution issue?

Happy New Year!

As far as I know, the game is designed to be played at 1024x768 resolution (or lower) and if you want to select an higher resolution or a different aspect ratio, you have to hack the Windows registry.

So, assuming that you are using Windows since you provided no information about your system, I suggest you to follow the steps described here, with particular attention to this part:

- Go into regedit
- Find key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bullfrog Productions Ltd\Dungeon Keeper II\Configuration\Video"
- Change "Screen Height" key to your screen height (800 in my case)
- Change "Screen Width" key to your screen height (1280 in my case)
- Make sure the "base" is in decimal

NOTE - This works with the GOG.com version as well, but you'll need to add the keys and strings to the registry yourself. To do this just browse to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bullfrog Productions Ltd\Dungeon Keeper II\" and then right click on the "Dungeon Keeper II" key on the left side of the screen and click New -> Key. Title the new key "Configuration" and then right click on the new "Configuration" key (which should now be a subfolder in Dungeon Keeper II) and click New -> Key and title the new key "Video" (which should now be a subfolder in "Configuration".

Now, while in Configuration\Video, right click on the empty space on the right side of the registry editor and click New -> String Value. Title the new string "Screen Height", and then do the same for "Screen Width". You can then double click each of these and add your custom settings.

Happy new year to you too. Welcome to GOG.
I've never seen 1024x768 in my CD version of the game, only with this one. However, GOG version is weirdly "pixely" around some edges like text on the "good to be bad" screen. My CD vesrion also sets Direct3D to "default graphic desplay" or so, while GOG only has patch 1.7 there.
If you have Intel HD4000 graphics card, go to Windows Start Menu -> Settings -> System -> Screen -> Resolution and choose 800 x 600 pixels. then go below to Advanced Screensettings -> Properties for Adapter -> Intel HD Graphics Control Panel -> Scaling and choose stretch to full screen. Then change Windows screen Resolution to 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 Start the game and you play in full screen mode.change Windows screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels to prevent game crash when pressing Alt-Tab

Strange.

I run the CD version as well (Dutch Langauge) with Patch 1.7 and a patched QMixer.dll, i can select 1024x768 in the options, as well as Hardware Mode.

I recently added the Direct3D Wrapper from GOG (copied it over from Populous 3), so now i can have 8x MSAA without the black screen bug.
Hi there,

i have huge Problems with my setup here and cannot play the game somehow usable. I have a laptop and connected to that is an external GPU the RTX2070. With that i am using a 4k Monitor in 42 inch.

So my Problem is now when i start the game without modification 800 x 600 on a 42 inch 4k is a little bit unsharp. Just a little bit :D

I know that old games dont use external GPUS only internal. So my Laptop provides an i7 7700HQ with an Intel HD 630 Graphics.

I tried to apply different Settings in the registry. I first started with setting the height and width of the keys in the registry to 1920 x 1080. The game is still very unsharp and to me there is no difference to 800x600 from before. When i set it to 4k the game crashes on startup.

Then i tried setting the parameters on a shortcut. First i added:
" -softwarefilter -32biteverything -nointmouse -enablebumpmapping -enablebumpluminance"

but the game crashes at startup. Then i deleted "-softwarefilter" but it still does not start.

So maybe someone can help me to get i playable somehow. It would be great if it starts in 1080p. That would be enough.

Maybe i should start all over again? Or will there be always a problem with external GPUS?
Well is there anyone who can give me a hint on fixing this problem?
