I'm having an issue with ingame cinematic dialogue skipping over itself. I've tried locking my monitor refresh rate, verifying file integrity, deleting the ini file, and a couple of unofficial patches. Any solutions?

Same problem.
Just to tag on some more informtion.

PROBLEM:
Every one or two seconds
the audio chops or repeats/extends a word,
or skips forward a word or two at a time,
or otherwise cuts out entirely.

1. DOES occur only in cinematics.
2. DOES NOT occur in-menu or in-game audio
3. DOES occur in SAFE MODE.
4. DOES occur in General Improvement Mod (1), recommended by another user (2).

The latest Dungeon Keeper 2 patch is: "Internal Update" 1.7 (July 23, 2018) "[WIN] updated internal installer structure, no changes to game files." (3)

I may have found something that helps. After I noticed the GOG release ran without a hitch on an old Pentium 4 I had lying around, I tried fudging with the settings - dropping the resolution to 640x480 made for a significant improvement. The insufferable input choppiness in 1st person and skipping dialogue audio went away entirely.

And while the audio sputtering is a bit inconsistent for when it exactly happens, cranking the resolution back to 1024x768 made both problems come back. I'll gladly take the fuzzy UI and low-res textures if it means I can actually possess creatures without wanting to gnaw my fingers off.
