Or what are the strengths of each that you wish was in the other? I love DK2's fps mode and walking through your dungeon, but I love Startopia's biodeck.

I haven't played War for the Overworld yet, but of those I like the original Dungeon Keeper the best. I prefer its aesthetic over that of DK2, and it always surprises me how varied the levels feel.
But if I just want to relax, then I'd rather play Startopia. It's got a way more chill vibe. I love just sitting back and watching all my alien visitors go about their business.

I don't have experience with startopia.
My personal favorite is DK2, but it was the first one I played. However, is true that the creatures of the first game have more variety. Still, I was unable to enjoy the pixel design of the first game (I'm serious, I was unable to see the details of the creatures).

War for overlord... I hate it. I played 4 days after the official release, THAT WAS NOT A GAME. I wait months for playing again, and I didn't enjoy the campaign (and was still an unfinished game), to the point I stop playing it. The bugs my hardware (hybrid video cards) got were too complex for them, I'm not sure if it's even fixed by now.

That indie company is a good example, of good wishes, good timing (even EA helped them) and a poor organization and even worse decision making (And yes, I read their blogs about their "adventures").

P.s. Now I'm curious about startopia

Definitely give Startopia a go, besides being sci-fi, it adds some unique spins in gameplay....

Startopia is definitely the game that you could just run in the background for that chill atmosphere (especially on that Bio-deck!)

I am bias cause I just started to play DK2 (liking it so far! Loving the Mentor for giving me that special tip to go to bed cause of my "nocturnal persistance" xD) and Startopia I had played way earlier (like I remember playing the Demo when it was on a PCGamer CD over and over again)

Totally agree with Matewis. Startopia is just a chill game.

If only there was a sequel...
Only DK 1 have this what another game never get.
have not played DK1 enough to know where i'd place it,

but from the other 3, i thought war for the overworld was just.. garbage.
dk2 and startopia: i absolutely love both of them, just fantastic games. personally i feel more for DK2, but that might be because i played it first (nostalgia bias).
