I just bought dungeon keeper 2, and it crashes while in the menu. It loads up, and after clicking options or new campaign it crashes to desktop with the typical "DKII-DX has stopped working" message. Any help would be appreciated, as i'd really like to try this game out.

Some specs: Windows 8 64bit
intel HD 4000
intel i5 3317u
4gb ram

Run the game as Administrator and in Compatibility Mode (the oldest possible on Windows 8).

Try using Software rendering mode. It's absolutely possible that it's your Intel drivers at fault.

Where is that option and how is it enabled?

Check the game's folder. Might be DKII_SOFT.EXE.

Found it and tried it. enabled compatability, ran as administrator. Still get to the same point then crash.
I have i5-4570S with 8G memory using the integrated HD4000-series chipset.

I have the same DKII-DX.exe problem. Any more advice would be highly appreciated.

Do you have more then one Graphics Processor?

Nope. Just the one integrated in the processor.

Edit: I tried DKII_SOFT.exe using compatibility mode (win95) and run as administrator and the program didn't even start and Windows asked if the program run as it should or should it begin to search for a solution.

Hi kvi,

Please write to our Support department whenever a crashing issue like this arises with one of our games. Make sure to send in your DxDiag. Also, please be advised that this is the weekend so there may be a slightly longer response time so make sure to keep the automated response email in a safe place as that has your ticket number in there, OK? :)
Winxp SP3 compatibility mode and 640x480 resolution modes fixed this problem for me.

This also fixes the crash for me, but then the game is very slow when you're playing.

I have 2 graphics processors so I force it to use the nvidia one and avoid the intel integrated one. THat seems to have worked for me.

Had tested many of the compatibility options, but this combination seems to do the trick. Atleast I managed to open the options-menu and play two levels of the story mode. Thanks!
