Just downloaded and installed this Great Game and although it works fine in software at the higher resolutions when I switch to Hardware acceleration, when zoomed out a dark cloud appears over the game, works fine when zoomed in but is way to close to play. any suggestion? Heard a few comments about the Hardware accelerated version not looking much better than software but I disagree. any suggestions?

I'm afraid for some goddamn stupid reason, GOG decided to release DK2 in some sort of odd state which means that Hardware Accleration doesn't work with ATI cards. Keep it in software mode and at 800x600 for almost problem free dungeoning!

I'm not sure hardware acceleration ever worked well with ATI cards. I recall swapping back to a Geforce4 Ti4200 since I couldn't get it running well with a 9700 Pro the last time I played. So I'm not sure there is really much GOG can do in this case since without access to the source, they're limited to trying to provide the best wrapper around the game as it existed.

On a related note, I wonder if it might be possible for GOG to deliver a virtual appliance for some of the more problematic games that don't run under DOSBox. I don't know about the licensing implications or anything, but I understand that 3D support in virtual machines is improving and might actually work to deliver older Windows games.

Please get informed. ATi cards don't support 16 bit Z-Buffering. Dungeon Keeper 2 uses 16-bit Z-Buffering. It's an old rendering method that is no longer used in modern games. Don't blame this on GoG.
