I don't think I'm playing this game right. When I get close to the enemy and I want to attack something, the only thing I can do is pick up a bunch of units and drop them near their target, and then they usually end up standing around until they walk back to the dungeon heart. I understand this isn't like a typical rts where you select groups of units and give them direct orders, but I'm at a loss for how to actually make any progress in this game without the ability to give basic commands to any of my creatures. I read somewhere on the web that you're supposed to be able to place an attack flag to guide your units, but I can't find anything like that, and there's nothing in the single player campaign (tutorial) that's given me any clues. I had to quit the single player campaign as soon as I reached a level (number 4?) that required me to attack instead of defend. I couldn't make it through a skirmish either.

Triock already pointed you to a very nice answer to your query. I hope this system does not refrain yourself of playing the game.

It is a great classic.

Lol I am trying. I'm also having a hell of a time with the fact that I can't *make more fighting units*. When my dungeon heart is under attack, all I can do is wait around for more units to come one by one out of the portal, and subsequently die one by one. Or I can create imps, who are useless.

edit: Gah, I just had to possess a creature and tediously walk around in first person to find individual units, and click on them as they're moving around to add them to my group, then get them to follow me into battle while trying not to accidentally right click and unpossess my creature, which causes me to lose my group. This game was created by a madman.

I'm pretty sure Peter Molyneux has been called worse things. :P
