I was testing the game with a friend during the weekend and we got it running quite nicely with Radeon 5770. Using an old hint from Google we copied atiumd64.dll, atiumd6a.dll and atiumdag.dll from Catalyst Vista 7.12 x64 and put them to Dungeon Keeper II main folder. After this the game does run without disabling hardware acceleration. I am going to buy the game after posting this bit of information. The idea is that the 16-bit z-buffer is still available on the 7 and 8 series of Catalyst drivers for Vista.

The only problem we had: how to verify if the game actually runs using 3D hardware and not software?

Download drivers for x64:

I am going to upload a fraps capture later.

EDIT: Here's the capture:

EDIT: The game is working in Software 3D mode (engine id 4)...

Using Win7 64 bit with ati radeon 5970.
Nice looking graphics. I hope this really helps other people out. Thanks for posting, even though this info didn't affect me. :)

Didn't help. I had to use additional atiumdva.dll to get the game runnin, without it it didn't even start. But I have still black screen.

Should I downgrade my catalyst to version 7.12 aswell?

Using ATI Radeon 4800. Win 7 x64.
Thanks for the post with the link for the ATI files. Now if there was just a way to get past playing at 800x600.
Weird, I put those files in my DK2 folder, and when you put them in, you cannot select hardware acceleration from the graphics options in-game, the tick-box just isn't there, but when you take them out and start the game again, hardware acceleration is back there.
