smrtgi19: I got Dungeon Keeper 2 on Disc, what do I have to do to make it work like GOG's
DK2 from GOG contains binary patches which were developed especially for GOG release. These patches are not included in any other version, and there's no "upgrade tool" to apply these patches to other releases (at least no official/legal ones).

The only way to have DKII working like GOG version is to use GOG version.

oh thats bollocks i got the disc version cause it was cheaper, i got burned on that deal... thankfully i kept a virtual machine for such purposes
Virtual machines aren''t good for gaming, I would see if you can get it running it natively first. I don't think there are any GoG specific patches that are necessary to get it working.

Count on a bit of work to get it running though, this game has many issues.
Wait a little more time maybe. GoG is making DRM free much better by putting our real cd version on their catalog.
Arise my pet.........

I had the original disc from release and after several days and many hours I gave up and bought the gog version MUCH easier
I'm not sure what operating system you are using... (I assume Microsoft Windows) I remember after service pack 2 (and later 3) came out for Windows XP I started having problems with Dungeon Keeper 2. I remember I had to patch it to the latest patch. I also changed the processor affinity to make DK2 run with only a single processor core (really helped with speed problems and crashes), and I had everything working fine. I set the .exe to run in Win98 mode as well. I bought the gog version because I didn't want to have to set up the game when changing to a different OS. I also was able to get the game working fine on Windows Vista by doing these changes.

I know a virtual machine set up of Win95 will run it great. In fact that's the only way I've been able to get Theme Park World (running on same game engine) running perfectly on Windows.

Never really used Windows 7 and up though, so I can't say if there are any other changes you need to make to get it running proficient.
