I'm on the campaign mission with all the secret doors, and I have found a bajillion secret doors in crates workshops that I've claimed.

But I'm short on gold, and it won't let me "build" secret doors, even though I have a bajillion of them just lying around.

Is this the intended behavior? Is there some way to use these doors without buying them fresh?
When you find crates (and imps have collected and put them in your workshop) you do still have to place the "blueprint" to tell your imps where you want the door/trap, but it shouldn't cost any gold, so it's "free."

I can't remember for sure, but it's possible if you haven't yet researched a door/trap type, then you can't place/use it yet even if you find one.
In DK2 you pay for the blueprint itself, not the traps or doors. So even the ones you find you still pay for, but your creatures won't have to make them. Your imps will be able to immediately set them up.

Oops. Sorry for the brain lapse that farted out the wrong answer. I was probably remembering how much I thought that crates which were found shouldn't cost anything to place. :D
