Sorry error in title, there should be without CD.

Hello,
i would like to play on real Dos machine, but hate cd rom drive noise.

Its possible somehow make game HDD only? I have plenty of space, i tried to copy cd files to harddisk and edit start files,
but i still geting no cd error message during game start.

This would be advantage of otherwise worse Dos box.

I've never tried to run the GOG version on dos, but the original game could easily be played without the CD in the drive by copying over the data folder from the CD to your game directory, and by editing the 'install path' in 'keeper.cfg' from the disk-drive to the game directory.

Good to now, thanks i will try it. Usually is GoG version same as retail, there is only Dosbox + their "crapp", but this
one has some 1KB game.inst instead of iso.. and there started to use some special *.inst and *.gog formats for isos,
i dont know why and i wasnt able to make *inst working with vanilla Dosbox, maybe im doing work, you there are doing this as some sort of protection :(

What is stupid that text in DK install setup is not rendered in Dosbox.

They are just renamed .cue/bin pair. I don't remember offhand if GOG ripped the music from the .bin for this one.

Sometimes they are but it tried to mount game.inst but wasnt capable to do it, maybe i did it..

I finally managed to get it work.. But i was unpleasant process, i used not Gog DK gold.. I installed in
Windows 98 virtual machine, problem is that in windows is not dos setup, but windows setup started.
So i have to copy *.exe files from CD to game instalation directory + also Keeeper folder and finnally
edit cfg to my new directory and after than i tested it in Dosbox.

Update: I found out that in Keeper folder is Dossetup folder, but it is also not working in Vmware.

I had some problems with sound, it could be set by setsound.exe.. but i really dont understand midi setting,
i have here only AWE32 no other card.. I checked gog version seems to be the same..

I also did mistake and changed game.inst for iso, there is other iso file there.. but is still dont understand why in configs
is this line:
imgmount d "..\game.inst" -t iso -fs iso
