Hi

I have two problems which make playing the game next to impossible:
First, I have a problem of the game scrolling around randomly. Most often, it will scroll back to a hatchery or the dungeon heart. First, I thought that some attantion was needed there, but no, everything worked fine and nothing tried to attack anything. This keeps happening a lot and at random intervals. Sometimes I can play the game for twenty minutes without anything happening, but sometimes I get this problem about five times in a row.

Second, my message-list is getting "spammed" by the "... yawns in anticipation..."-messages. I thought, ok, maybe this is happening since I wasn't building anything in the last five minutes, but no: I get this message multiple times in a row in a _very_ short time. Yesterday, I started a game and the first three messages at the start were those stupid "yawns"-messages. Argh!

Does somebody else have these problems? The GOG-Support sent me the link to the stability-thread, but apart from those two problems, the game runs like a charm.

You could try:

Right click DKII.exe and select the Compatibility tab, check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows 98 / Windows ME .

These 2 things usually trigger when nothing happens for a while, which leads me to believe that some sort of internal clock is running too fast.

I've actually had the game play too fast on the 258.96 (WinXP 32bit) Nvidia drivers, so it might be a driver issue. Maybe you could try updating/rolling back your GPU drivers?
I believe this is a common issue with DK2 (I have the original disc version of the game and it used to happen to me a lot - it's not GoG version only) the bug is to due with multi-cpu affinity.

Launch DK2.
Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Find DK2 in the list of processes.
Right click and set affinity deselect all but 1 CPU.

This should fix the problem.
Dream,

setting the affinity worked beautifully for me. To permanently set the affinity for the game see this post

about using imageCFG
Thank you, Dream :D
That has worked for me, too ^_^
