I downloaded the game, installed it and tried to run it and it asks me to insert the "Fallout Disc"
?
This question / problem has been solved by Applemilkimage
I haven't bought a game from GOG yet, so im just guessing from my past experiences.
is there a .iso or .img file that came with the download.
if so download daemon tools light (thats the free one!) and mount the image on the virtual drive. then it should say something like autorun.exe or fallouttactics.exe or install.exe or something, just click continue
There shouldn't be any iso or img files.
Which OS are you using? Try to run as administrator (right click -> run as administrator).
I uninstalled it, then downloaded and installed it again and it stopped asking me for the disc.

I'm running it on vista, and I changed the properties of it to always run as administrator... I don't know if that was an issue in the first place, or why it did this, but it's not now.

It shouldn't ask for the disc. I have a GoG version and it doesn't ask for it.
Did you have Tactics previously installed on your computer? I mean before you bought a GoG version, because some crap from the previous version can still be in your system registry.

I don't think that would be a problem. I don't know if you even have to mess with the exe anyways I am currently on XP so I can't test it at the moment but my laptop with Vista never had problems with Fallout 2 but that is because I turned off UAC anyways.
