Both Downloaders now have the option of sending Error Reports directly to us (this can be found in app under Settings).

Please add a download rate LIMITER.

Some of us don't have blazingly fast internet connections.

As it is, when I use the gog.com downloader, even restricting it to 1 download thread, I can't even get an instant message in edgewise.

And no one else in the house can use the internet for anything while a download is in progress.

I mean, it's great that gog.com can completely and utterly saturate my 1.2 mbps connection with a single thread, but it's kind of a pain in the butt that I can't use the downloader WITHOUT saturating it.

Also, it would be nice if there was a way to quit the downloader from its window, rather than having to minimize it to the system tray, then click and exit.

Love the support you get here at GOG, I sent a PM to Fallen_Zen about my issue and time was took to reply and try to help. A lot of places you ask for support and it can be days before you get a response.

GOG has a human side, doesnt feel like you are just another subscriber to a faceless huge corporation.

You already have the chunk checksums and the library supports ranges:

if it fails the check then seek to beginning of chunk in the file, set range and download
do the same for all the other chunks

Of course it can be done, but right now we're focused on more important features. Errors on correctly downloaded and verified files happen rather rarely, in most cases it means there's something wrong with the drive itself. Can't promise anything, we'll think about it.

Can you explain a use-case where Downloader, after merging the complete and verified download, would have to download some "updated chunks" from the server?

Please keep in mind that if a game is updated, then it also means that it was compressed again, and thus in 99,9% cases every single chunk will be different (meaning a full re-download). That's why for changes / updates in games, patches will created to address this problem properly.

Oh, I didn't realize the patches and updated chunks were two different things. That makes more sense!
I'm not sure where to post this, so I'll ask here:

I can't run the new downloader at all. Nothing shows up. I tried the stable release and now beta, and nothing. Uninstalled, rebooted, installed, rebooted, tried and nothing.

I did use the older downloader previously, and that one works. When I tried to download a game it started dling in the old downloader. I deleted the old one and now nothing is happening when I try to dl. I can see the application show up very briefly, like for a split second, in Task Manager, and then it's killed immediately. Running as admin doesn't help.

I'm on Win7, using Chrome if that matters. What to do?

No errors whatsoever? Seems like a very strange behavior to me. Make sure .NET 3.5 SP1 is correctly installed.

A bad install, maybe? Since .NET 3.5 is already integrated in Windows 7, this is a very strange behavior.

Go to Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off - > Find .NET. Deselect it, and confirm. Then install it by selecting it and confirming.
Like some other people here I'm having trouble logging into the new downloader. Have tried both 3.0.25 and 3.1.0 after turning on the beta features in My Account. Every time I attempt to login I get told "The email or password is incorrect." I'm copying and pasting the password from my password manager, so I know it's correct. My email address contains a plus sign so maybe that's the problem.

Could someone please offer some assistance? Thanks!

I did, but it says, and I quote: "an error has occured. No settings have been changed." And then I restart and nothing changes.

This already happened once before with another program and I couldn't solve it. I'll just use another computer, no biggie.
