adambiser: For others who have this problem, I made this userscript, though it doesn't always work... I need to figure out how to get it to behave properly with Steam pages:

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/178263

For those who prefer, here's the code for a bookmark that'll call the group invite: Basically the problem is that PresentGroupInviteOptions(); returns an object and Firefox tries to open it. To get around it, I change the called javascript to store the returned object to a variable instead.
I tried this since I'm having the same problem, but now nothing happens when I press on the "more" button or the notifications.

I have the same problem. I had to switch to using a bookmarklet to fire off the code on the page.

The bookmarklet code is this:

javascript:var%20result=PresentGroupInviteOptions();

Just use that instead of an address for your bookmark. Then when you click, it will bring up the invite box.

I also let support know that this change fixed my problem. They said they'd forward the information, but I haven't heard anything more.

Could you give me an example? I'm not sure how to do that, do I edit the script?

By the way, I'm convinced that steam support is comprised of bots, I'm surprised that you heard that much from them.

Just remove that userscript. I should delete it anyway. I don't know why it doesn't work.

Just make like you're going to bookmark the page, but instead of the web address, use that javascript code instead. Then use that bookmark to bring up the invite box.

Invitation sent.

DarkoD13:
Try this userscript and see if that works correctly.

If so, you won't need that bookmarklet. This is someone else's script and it seems to work for me so far.
