Is there a party build in which the ranger is a good party choice?

And is there a point in having a druid in M6 when they can't do magic well anymore, besides having them as a 3rd spellcaster in addition to the sorcerer and cleric? In both games they have the most magic points since they derive them from both Personality and Intellect, so they can be a great addition to a more spell-focused party.

Archers and Druids are very good party choices in MM6.

But they are very weak in MM7 because of the changes to Skill system. There is no point in having tons of SP if you don't have access to powerful spells, and those classes aren't very good in melee too (I am not even mentioning arrows, they are only good to kill rats and spiders...).
In MM7 the hybrids make the funnier games.
I had try the classical with Cleric and Wizard, but the game becomes too easy, while the hybrids make the game normal (not too hard).

A ranger swings an axe really well, uses a bow slightly less well, and uses both Self and Elemental magic slightly better than "uselessly". I can't think of any party composition that would be best served by having a ranger. They are moderately functional as back up in a lot of different ways at once, but a party is likely to be stronger by taking someone more specialized in whatever the party is lacking most instead of taking a ranger.

Druids provide both Self and Elemental magics at a useful level, giving you a weaker-but-still-quite-functional Cleric and Sorcerer in one party slot. A Druid can replace both your cleric, your sorcerer, or both at once, giving a stronger focus on either Self or Elemental magic, or leaving you with three open character slots to play around with other classes.
