wormholewizards: Face it what? Last time I checked WeGo is a rightfully owner of the IP. They acquired it through legal way. I don't care if they port it to mobile, they can do whatever they want with the IP.
My point wasn't that I don't want them to port it to mobile (which they already did, I think it was discussed here already) but that even if they still would be selling the game here, they wouldn't support it, as evidenced by their complete lack of communication ever since the game was taken off from GoG.
As for the reason, I have not a single clue. As you said, they have the rights, the original code and apparently plenty of people on GoG willing to pay for it.
And like Spinorial said, its not like the original version would require a lot of effort to fix (I know for a fact that only one or two code lines need to be modified to get it working again, you don't even need extensive programming knowledge to figure it out).
But for whatever reason they chose to pack the game with the fan patch instead without giving them any credit, I mean how did they expect the community to react?
Plus even after it got taken down, they didn't make any effort whatsoever to bring it back up, even with them owning the rights to the game and therefore probably even having every right to use the fan patch for their own good.
Really all they would need to do is to get active and either get to an agreement with the creators of the fan patch or release their own patch, both options require minimum effort on their part.
Yet WeGoInteractive remains completely silent, I mean even from a business point of view they're acting completely irrational so at this point its really only their fault that the game is not back up again.
My other point that you ignored as well was, if the game was still sold on GoG without the approval of the original creators of the patch (be it legal or not), sooner or later the fans would have stopped working on it due to the frustration of other people making money off of the work they did for free in their free time.
And since WGI is apparently unable to provide their own patch (why else would they have used the fan patch for GoG?), this would end in a complete stop of development/support for the game and I strongly doubt that this would be in anybodies interest.
