I've been playing a lot of Shadow of Chernobyl lately and, coincidentally, I just happened to find this news article today:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/mutant-wolves-roaming-the-chernobyl-disaster-area-have-developed-cancer-resistant-genes-according-to-study/ar-BB1i1YTW?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=95bffad161f74c20913ca28e09dd4eca&ei=17

"Mutant wolves of the Chernobyl disaster zone have developed a strong resistance to cancer"

Funny how life imitates art, huh? This is just plain awesome. IRL nature has found an immunity to cancer through the miracle of evolutionary adaption, and it's all because of the original nuclear calamity.

And here I thought the lore of Stalker was just pseudo-intellectual sci-fi tripe. Turns out nature has proven us wrong again. Maybe these grandmasters of eurojank game design at GSC Game World have a better understanding of science than we give them credit for. Or maybe this discovery really is just a coincidence. :p

On a side note, hopefully scientists can use the knowledge gained from this discovery and apply it to human beings so we ourselves can become naturally more resistant to cancer as well. That would be awesome.
