vAddicatedGamer: "Oh, carrots, tasty carrot
And still on top and fat,
Here, even the chicken with parsley ... "
Carrots and chicken ? Really ? I guess i was expecting something mundane too but Jesus.

Thanks for the link mate.

I'd stil like a proper translation handed by CDPR though.

vAddicatedGamer: Does anyone know Russian here?

Some Russian forum user posted a translation of what Iorveth was saying in his dream, claiming that this came from the game writers themselves.
http://forums.ag.ru/?board=ti_main&action=display&s=0&num=1305493370&start=5000 (post #5008)

Enhanced with Google Translation, here goes:
"Oh, carrots, tasty carrot
And still on top and fat,
Here, even the chicken with parsley ... "

For the sake of completion:
There is another attempt from the page before (post #4989) which reads "a woman wants to spend an evening, for this table. " (credits Russian-English Google translation).

I have checked until page 217. No other interpretation has been given.
thats right, chicken with carrots :-)
The Russian translation is interesting, and it wouldn't surprise me if all he was talking about was the food on the table... But the only word from the Elder Speech that we have translated via the Wiki - 'esseath,' which means 'you are,' according to those sources - seems to be completely absent from that translation. :/

"Carrots, you are tasty"? :P

The translation is probably fake, but this thread is starting to get interesting.

Also, it's making me hungry.

Cadenza: There is some elven not translated when you talk to the elven prisoner in Henselt's camp but I doubt it is as interesting.
It is translated, but only if you have subtitles enabled. I hate having subtitles enabled all the time, I wonder why the didn't force the sutbtitles to appear when you are talking to the elf, a bit strange.

Koschay: I thought it was a remarkably mundane dream reflecting Iorveth's world-weariness a desire to just quit fighting and settle down. He's got his pipe, his drink and his roast pig, so he's sitting down quoting some obscure elvish ditty.

I'd be disappointed if it turned out to be something profound.
This was exactly my interpretation. Makes sense to me a man who has lived for at least a century as a partisan, always fighting and almost starving would dream of a tasty feast and security. It's not that he would throw his ideals away for comfort, but it seeps into the subconscious because it's, well a basic need for lifeforms. Nourishment, warmth, and safety. He doesn't get any of those. :P

I totally believe that Russian translation by the way. It does sound like he is listing items if you listen to the way he speaks.

As for the Saskia thing... not only do I not interpret any romance between the two, but neither do I see any romantic imagery in that dream. If it was a lovelorn dream, I don't think they would use imagery of a small, closed room, focusing the camera mainly on a big feast and roast pig. Lovelorn imagery is more like being alone by a window, or out in the open in nature, playing his pipe in the evening... etc. :P
The translation is as follows:

"Where bows and swords have failed,
shall my greatest triumph prevail,
for many foolish dh'oinne shall spend hours on end,
figuring out what these words mean and spend,
their last minutes in confusion as I knife them from behind-
SCOIATELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Its like Candyman, you focus on the poem and when you finally figure it out Iorveth appears and kills you.

I can think of worse ways to go. ^^
It is supposed to sound epic and deep as it's Elven and stuff.

In fact, Iorveth's commenting the food.

Twisted evil sense of humour, REDs.
I do not think he is talking about carrots unless he is addressing carrots as in YOU ARE lol

I think it has to do with his desires stable life a home maybe a family something like that... Some one should write the game makers and maybe ask them to give us the translation.

Just makes no sense that they would put it there and they had no idea what that means not very logical thing to do but what is more odd in that is that why didn't they bother to translate it. Since it is a big part of understanding the character in this case IORVETH.

He's literally, starving. Is it so abstract to make an apostrophe to carrots?

Iorveth: "Sweet delicious carrot's, YOU ARE going to be in my stomach very, very soon."

Maybe because it's ridiculous? Just hearing Elven speech is far more mysterious than a translation about carrots, it would be REALLY weird and out of place in the game. :P
