Wow, that's awesome! This is one of the many reasons to buy games from GOG - unexpected updates/freebies to features, addons, etc. that happen from time to time! Thanks to everyone at GOG and the developer for doing this!
This is incredible. Thanks to all involved who brought us this update for free! It could have easily been a $5 DLC purchase, like Mark of the Ninja's Special Edition content was.

rodrolliv: So, I would have to dl the new installer and run it, without uninstalling the previous version. Is that correct?
That's what I do with any of my games that don't come with separate patches and I haven't had a problem yet
One thing not addressed is compatibility with old saved games and profiles. Anyone know what the deal is with that? Some of the unlockables are only possible through random events, I'd hate to have to do all that again :S

Edit: Never mind, the question was answered on the second page :)

Actually, I found that whilst it recognised my achievements, it did not unlock a few things that were previously unlocked. Will try a clean install to see if that helps.

You mean a clean install and then copy your profile over? Let me know how that goes!

Nah, more in the sense of uninstall, cclean, reinstall. Worked so far.

But if you did that you wouldn't have any acheivements/unlocks at all! I don't understand!

*flings poo and runs out crying*
I just installed the game to /Games/FTL/FTL - Advanced Edition. Earlier progress is still there.

edit: I didn't uninstall anything before that.

The game automatically figures out where your profile is, and saves a new one in the same directory. You'd only have issues if you played this version with a different user than the previous version (in which case you can just copy the profile across).

FYI All your profile stuff is located in your user documents directory ("My documents" on XP) under "My games\FasterThanLight". It appears to create a new file, ae_prof.sav, which I believe is generated from the unlocks from your "original" profile (prof.sav). The original profile still remains, though I don't think it gets updated anymore.
Great!
I haven't played this for a while, I guess it's time to fire it up again!
The Advanced Edition installer wanted to install to a new folder titled "FTL - Advanded Edition"
Anybody else catch that?
Of course I changed Advanded to Advanced but I thought it was funny. I guess whoever made the installer was in a hurry ;)

Oops. Good catch!

We'll definitely fix that. Soonish.

Just tried it out. Seems to be an amazing mod, but it also breaks compatibility with the FTL Remastered mod. I had a check of the archives and it turns out that FTL Advanced edition uses different sized sprites from the original (or at least the Remastered mod). While a simple resize canvas does the trick, it does seem to add a lot of extra work as this seems to apply for every ship!
does the gog version also have the modifications to make it touch screen friendly?
