EDIT: No, wait, now I know. I never updated my wiki page to say "Maighstir", both the listing and the count field was still set to user="Miaghstir". Should've thought of that to begin with, that's what happens when you don't need to touch a system for long enough (my wiki page in this case), you forget how it works, even if you set it up yourself to begin with.

Sorry to bother you.

Ah, good thinking. Glad it's alright after all.

Barefoot_Monkey: ...
Can't believe it took me so long to install this. Thank you for all your hard work in adding features that GOG doesn't bother with (I still remember GOGPM fondly).

:D

EDIT: By the way, why is the text in quotes grey with the addon enabled? Is this just a bug on my end or something deliberate? I guess it's just part of the style changes.

I find there's not as much contrast as I'd like between the post background and the quote so I look forward to the promised option to turn it off.

Barefoot_Monkey: It does indeed. That's handled by the forum code, not mine, and I'm 84.1% certain that the GOG forum notifies everyone quoted directly in a post (but not those quoted inside other quotes). Let's test! For SCIENCE!
Last time I tested this (with Vitek I think), we came to the conclusion that it wasn't the act of being quoted that generated the notification, but rather making a post with the window generated by clicking the reply button on a post.

That is to say, if I was to click reply to a post of yours, copy the text from that window, close it, click reply on someone else's post, delete the quote of their post and paste in the quote of yours and then post that, the someone else would get the notification, not you.

Vitek should get a notification from this. ;)
SirPrimalform is right.
I indeed was notified of this post, even if there is no quote of mine inside.
Becuase of this you can't notify more than 1 person with 1 post unless you quickly (in 10 minutes) click reply to all of them and let the posts merge.
Hmm, I wonder if Barefoot_Monkey can find the code that generates the reply notification (maybe it's somewhere in the reply window that's generated?) he can add multiquote functionality with notifications for each (but without post merging/editing)? That'd be incredibly useful for Mafia but I've no idea if it's doable.

Still, the preview function alone already makes this script incredibly useful for Mafia games.

Sorry for not responding for so long while there this discussion was active - I lost my Internet connection for a few days. The issue with replies not causing notifications is what I'm focusing on right now. It's a bit mysterious because I'm doing more-or-less the same thing that the regular reply window does, but I have a couple of ideas that might work so I've decided to make a pair of alt accounts to experiment with those.

It's deliberate. I was aiming for making regular text stand out better against quoted text, while at the same time making quoted text easier to read. The thing is that what is "easier to read" is not necessarily the same from one monitor to the next, so I decided to emphasise that it's experimental and see if it caused trouble for anyone. It's definitely going to be made optional as soon as possible. Maybe not the next update, because of the priorities for that which I mentioned a few posts up, but most likely the update after that. I'll do my best to be quick about it.

This may well cause a notification, I was just correcting you on the "notifications are caused by quotes" thing.
I haven't actually tested whether the quick reply generates a notification or not but I've used it for this post so fingers crossed).

I think it's a good idea, I'd just go for a bit more contrast between the quote and the background than this (but still less than the default). Which colour scheme did you design it for?

You're right. It turns out that the person who receives the notification is determined mainly by which "reply" button you pressed before typing the reply.

By the way, do you get a notification for this reply? If so, then the next update is coming soon :)

I use the Carbon theme personally, but I test on both. Which one are you using? Are quotes hard to read in both or only one?
ooo fascinatingly interesting
*reads more*
super congrats on the good work

Ahh... I'm sorry to say that I didn't get a notification. =(

I use Carbon too. I just checked it on Aluminium and the contrast is actually a lot better but in that theme the background burns my eyes. I think maybe it's my laptop screen not having a very good contrast ratio, I guess the Carbon background is supposed to be darker than it appears to me.
The name Carbon certainly suggests a darker shade than I'm seeing..!

Perhaps you should try to calibrate your screen ever so slightly. Open this page in full-screen mode and follow the guide.

Even with my crappy (now secondary) TN panel screens, the lighter grey is hardly blinding. The new IPS panel is, admittedly, factory-calibrated and the difference is significant.

Well it's a laptop screen so it doesn't have normal brightness or contrast controls like you'd get on a standalone LCD monitor. The best I have is backlight brightness. I'm not sure what it is about the Aluminium theme that hurts my eyes because black text on a white background document is absolutely fine for me.
As for the grey on grey problems I'm having with the quote text and the Carbon theme, it's probably my laptop screen being bad at dark shades. I might be able to change the contrast in software at the driver stage...

I received the notification even though the quotes contained SirPrimalform's words

Aha, a clue! Thanks for letting me know :) Maybe I can get this figured out tonight.
