It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

wormholewizards: Just want to chip in. GOG downloader isn't working with new Opera 12. Need to manually put the extension, which is something i don't know how to do it.
Seems that there's a bug in the newest Opera. I've contacted their support about it. Even though I've registered Downloader's protocol in the browser manually I'm still getting the "No registered application for this extension".

c4nn1bal: The problem persists.
win7 64bit, 3.0.51b
This should be fixed now! Thanks again and sorry for the problem :)

Would you be so kind to describe the problem and paste the contents of your console?

Please post at least a screenshot of this error. Because I really don't know to what you are referring to.

Screenshots for me are not working

but I typed this that I could see::

Unknown Protocol

The Application "C:\Program Files\GOG.com\GoG.com Downloader.exe "%1"" must be launched to open the link:
gogdownloader://worlds_of_ultima_the_savage_empire
Do You Want to proceed

Do not Show this dialog again (Yes No buttons) soon as I click on yes

Opera

Red Exclimation mark graphic No registered application for this extension. ok box

The %1 in this is causing all this downloader incompatibility.

fr33kSh0w2012: The %1 in this is causing all this downloader incompatibility.
The %1 stands for parameters that are passed with the protocol to the Downloader and this is required, at least for other browsers. This value is being taken from the Registry by the Opera and it should handle it but it does not. We've already passed a question to Opera Support.

For now you may find this solution good for you, see attached file.

This example is provided by Microsoft itself:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa767914.aspx

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
alert
(Default) = "URL:Alert Protocol"
URL Protocol = ""
DefaultIcon
(Default) = "alert.exe,1"
shell
open
command
(Default) = "C:\Program Files\Alert\alert.exe" "%1"

Voltageline: Hello all,

I recently tried to download Splinter Cell, and after clicking on the download link, the downloader launched but I received the "error, retrying..." message in the bottom right corner of the downloader. After waiting a few minutes, I tried closing and restarting the application, but no luck. After a few failed attempts, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the downloader, and it seems I may have made things even worse.

After uninstalling the downloader, my computer gave me the message "Not all of the components (or something) have been removed, these can be manually removed later," and after I tried to reinstall the downloader, I received this error:

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied.
Click retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation. Was the Downloader running when you tried to uninstall it?

I've seen that others are having the similar "error, retrying..." problem, but I haven't seen anyone else with the reinstall problem that I'm having, which frightens me. If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it!

I've tried ignoring it, and the application won't open. Retrying brings up the same error message.

Fallen_Zen: Hello,

First of all what version were you using? What kind OS, how did you try to uninstall the Downloader? It has its own uninstaller.

Please download the latest build: http://www.gog.com/downloader and try installing, it should close and overwrite the existing instance of the Downloader if running.

There was some server side problems during the weekend, that's from where you were getting the "error, retrying..." message. Downloader couldn't log you in.

Let me know if that helped.
I'm using the latest version of the stable build on Windows 7 64-bit. I tried uninstalling from the control panel and it gave me the "not all files removed" message. I just tried installing the downloader again and it gave me the same "code 5" error message.
All my download attempts are giving me the "Connection error, please try again later!" message. The error message in the logger says "The operation has timed out". Either too many people are trying to download stuff at once, or something else.
